I just love Win2k...but I was curious just how much of a performance hit im getting. I'll be getting a second hard drive soon, so I was thinking of putting win98/games on the old drive if games would be noticably faster...or would it be worth the hassle? BTW all my games work in win2k so far..
Thanks

since im at work right now i can't post any links right now. many different perspectives on this topic. first off to compare win98 and win2k in gaming. alot of people say win2k is not a gaming os and shouldn't be used for hardcore gamers. i have win2k and i enjoy gaming on it very much. Win2k memory managment is far more advance than win98 any day. when they designed win98 they did such a horrid job and rushed right thru. i think the best thing that cam with win98 was the plug and play. The only prob is win2k is a memory hog. and you have to make sure you have compatible hardware. i have never ever had a game froze up in win2k as of win98 i would get the blue screen of death every few hours. hope that helps a bit

I downloaded 3DMark2000 the other day. Tested it on both 98 and 2K, only gave me 5 3DMarks differenec......
I thought it would be more, but 3DMark uses D3D, so that mey be the reason.
Running a few games in OpenGL or Glide on 2K certainly speeds things up. It`s quite a big differene, I`m suprised really......
Anyone tried teh 2K OpenGL screen savers? **** they are fast! LOL!
TD.
EDIT: Almost forgot the url for 3DMark2000. www.madonion.com (http://www.madonion.com)
