Whoa! this is violent!

My copy of Soldier of Fortune just arrived and... Oh my! This is quite a violent game! People's limbs being shot off, heads blowing up, guts being strewn out, reducing someone to char and ashes... But I think it's a really cool game, and I think I finally found something worthy of replacing half-life.

The funniest thing is when your chasing someone throwing knives at them. They actually stick into the person. So now your chasing someone with 3 knives hanging out of their back!!!
You can turn the violence down/off if it offends you.
Very fun game with a high detail of graphics.
The realism is nice also, where one shot to the head from any weapon can kill. instead of a rocket to the head bringing your opponent to 1/4 life. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I agree 100%! I thoroughly enjoyed Half-Life & all its add-ons, but for me, SOF is much more fun. I especially like the secondary fire function on the heavy machine gun- white phosphorous grenades! Cool! Really cooks 'em till they're done!
And that microwave pulse gun... WooHoo!

I love to make the enemies dancing with my 50mm in the 2 legs song. They dance for long as they have legs.

The knives are fun, but they're hard for me to use. In Half-Life, I could aim an MP5 grenade through the small slit in the bunker of Compound. I don't feel the control with the knives in SOF. White phosphorus is SWEET, but to me, Raven should have had separate ammunition for that, instead of taking 10 bullets. I do enjoy scorching four enemies at once though. Making them dance with the 5.56 SMG is fun, but you run out of bullets sooner or later http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif. The weapons that I found worthless (in single player that is) are the flamethrower (short range, and it takes a while to burn `em), the 9mm pistol (never use it), and though it's fun to use, the RPG (makes too much noise, and then more guys come out).

i love the gore, but only like the game under multiplayer online. i thought that the AI was weak compared to half life...but a cool game still.

What did you think was bad about the AI?

I agree on the AI. The first time I beat the game, I was leaning around corners with the sniper rifle, headshoting everyone. The fact that you can see them without them seeing you makes even the most difficult setting not that hard.

SOF is great. I set it on unfair and even leaning around corners doesn't get me far. Enemies coming from every direction. 9 mm's work fine on headshots but I don't get much use from the flamethrower. I love the heavy machine gun. It disassembles people with ease.
