What a screwed up way to end a school year. and start a summer vacation ect.
A 13-year-old student sent home early for throwing water balloons returned to his school and allegedly shot and killed a male teacher.
Grunow was married with three children and had worked with the Palm Beach County school district for 13 years.

are schools next year going to have to be like prison's. high fence to control who comes and goes ect. metal dectors everywhere, or what.
I know here on the island and surronding towns. they have a special regular real police task force. that do nothing except work the schools ect. patorl walkways, class rooms ect. they know who comes and goes. noone gets by them. and they cuff and charge them as adults if they can and most of the time they are taken to the main jail. until the judge says different.
I mean ****. just remember this when you get ready to send your kids back to school or if you are a teacher. IT might be your last day EVER.

Gene, one question. Why do you always feel you have to post every breaking news story here in the forums?
I think most of us watch the news, read a newspaper, or check the news via the web.
Just wondering. Judging by the 0 response you get from the thread, I would think that it would offer you some idea of it's importance. thanks

it's nice to see and have such helpfull members as we have.

Hey Gene:
I for one appreciate all of your posts. Keep up the good work.
Here's something from a childhood buddy o' mine. He lives near Columbine now, and we both wonder, "What the hell is going on these days?"
THE INNOCENCE OF CHILDHOOD
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Sometimes I want to be a kid again. I want to go back to the
time when:
-- Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo."
-- Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming "do over!"
-- "Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest.
-- Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in
"Monopoly."
-- Catching fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening.
-- Being old referred to anyone over 20.
-- The net on a tennis court was the perfect height to play
volleyball and the rules didn't matter.
-- The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was
cooties.
-- It was magic when dad would "remove" his thumb.
-- It was unbelievable that dodgeball wasn't an Olympic
event.
-- Having a weapon in school meant being caught with a
slingshot.
-- Nobody was prettier than Mom.
-- Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better.
-- It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the
"big people" rides at the amusement park.
-- Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true.
-- Abilities were discovered because of a "double-dog-dare."
-- Saturday morning cartoons weren't 30-minute ads for action
figures.
-- "Oly-oly-oxen-free" made perfect sense.
-- Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause
for giggles.
-- The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.
-- War was a card game.
-- Water balloons were the ultimate weapon.
-- Baseball cards in the spokes transformed any bike into a
motorcycle.
-- Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspirin.
-- Older siblings were the worst tormentors but also the
fiercest protectors.

That is america for you.............
Do you expect to see anything other then such news here..................this kind of thing is not unusual in america,I am not trying to be pessimistic, but I am not shocked when I hear about this kind of thing,I have grown to expect it,to not see something like this once every couple weeks would be shocking to me..............but this that has happened is not in the least bit shocking,or suprising.

I'm sorry Oblivion, but I have to differ w/ ya here. This rampant run of insanity is unusual, and it has to be stopped. I wish that I had the answer, but I don't. I can only speculate. But I think that it has something to do w/ what is NOT being taught at home anymore... RESPECT.
The solution:
Pass more gun laws, dont enforce the 25,000 gun laws there currently are, tell the kids to go sit in the corner and think about what they have done.
Sound familiar? Happens every time there is more violoence. I for one say this is getting rediculous. That kid went to juvy for a couple days. When I was 13 I knew darn well that shooting people, even pointing a gun at someone was flat out wrong! That kid knew perfectly well what he was doing, so I say he should be in jail for atleast half of his still very young life. Start making examples of these kids instead of slapping them on the wrist and see if this stuff keeps happening.

"This rampant run of insanity is unusual"
I am quite sorry, but it is not at all unusual, this kind of thing has been happening quite fequently and more and more in the past six-ten years. If it was "unusual" we wouldhardly ever see this kind of thing on the news...........but I see something like this almost every time I watch the news...................these kind of problems are on the rise here......big time...................this stuff does not happen nearly as much in other free country's.......and I do not mean just by numbers,I mean per capita..........................hell this type of thing happens almost every month in big cities like detroit................
IMO the media plays a large role in it.You ever listen to NPR news? That is news.....the **** you see on TV is a self perpetuating cesspool of anger and violence. What do alot of young people people of a poor family background have to look forward to? Not much, especially if you all you see is violence............itis my opinion that tv style news sort of "markets" violence...........and breeds it.

We agree on most points there Bud. But, I think that most of the blame should be placed where most sh*t starts. AT HOME.
We just can't go on blaming teachers and TV and rock'n roll, ect.
And just to say that it's the usual way of life now, is saying that we accept it as normal behavior. That is unacceptable.
I know that parents try, but some how, and some way they are just losing control these days.
It's not new gun laws, we need, but new parenting laws. And the laws these days prohibit parents from discipining there children, for fear of facing child abuse charges.
Tell me I'm wrong...

Hey I am not blaming the news for it,nor am I blaming parents...............nor will I tell you that your opinion is wrong. But I will say that I thik parents should be better parents, and I also think that making "parenting laws" would be a mockery of freedom..............as far as I can see it is really looking to be a no win situation here.......I guess it will work itself out one way or another huh?

Don't we all wish that there could be an easy answer to such profound problems.
It is so sad and so sickening, that we are all trying to point fingers at what we think is the problem (Myself included).
Either it's time to start disciplining parents, or it's time to give parents back the right to discipine their kids.
That's just my 6 bits worth...

Yeah, tomorrow our fearless leader will wave a water ballon and say another gun law would have prevented this.
the kid tells his father you touch me and Ill call911
Parents and schools are not allowed any form of disipline. I used the belt on all three of my sons, and believe it or not in later years they thanked me for their upbringing. they are all upstanding citizens and gentlemen. never in trouble, and respectfull of others and most of all respectfull of them selves. as are their sons.

Skywalker, dude, seriously, you need to chill out on life. I'm not sure you should be a guy in charge of kids, and I would have said that before I read what you posted in this thread, you might need some help buddy.
Bruno....boy are you nailing this topic perfectly : ) Alondra, cant disagree with you either. As of Skywalker why the heck did you allow a 13 year old to have a half bottle of Vodka? Straighten up a little.

Unless I am missing something parents can punish thier children.............I know alot of parents that do so quite effectivly.
We can not blame "the laws" for bringing children up the wrong way....................my uncle is very good with his children, whether they have been good or bad..............he does not need to hit them either, but he knows how to make them respect and fear his words.

Bruno,Alondra,My sentiments exactly.
I was raised to respect and be respected by others and myself, just feel that it's the proper way to be.
Irregardless,it sure is sad to see some of the things that are happening around us as it affects many people in the long run.
Sympathy goes out to those involved in this incident.

Gun laws do nothing to protect people, think about it!! There will always be a black market for weapons, no matter how many stupid laws are put on the books.
the columbine kids broke nearly 20 laws when they killed all of those people, didnt stop them. The 6 year old who shot that little girl in michigan broke 7 or 8 laws, didnt stop them, and the kids who sniped at that middle school a few years ago broke a bunch of laws.
Laws dont stop them, but good morals would, thats what we need.

Maybe the owner of the weapon he used should be incarcerated! I bet that would help parents to be more reasonable when it comes to leaving their weapons laying around. This was not a weapon that was purchased on the street, the kid took it from his grandfathers house and his grand father should be held liable for his careless actions! Their is no need for more **** gun laws! JMO!
Loved your post Wiz. You hit that perfectly. Did you all know that the girl who bought the guns for the Columbine boys has NEVER been federally prosecuted yet Clinton loves to bring her up about being able to buy guns. Fact is that over Clintons 8 years in office less then 100 prosectutions have been made on gun violations. But hey more laws, and licensing/regualtions will work.......SURE it will. Boy I cant wait till that loser gets out of the white house.

This is so very sad. That 13-year-old boy also threw his own life away - he flushed his life down the toilet as well.

Yeah. Its pretty awful, I just don't get why he would have done it. Must have needed serious help. (I'm assuming the kid did it, because he was unhappy about being thrown out of school.)
Oh, and oxO - Calm down.

I remember my first car, ign sw went bad, I put in a cheap toggle sw. then I remember the slogan that started, "dont tempt a good boy to go bad, take the key out of your car"
hmmm it a kid steals your car it is your fault.
if he steals your car it is your fault
if he robs your house, you should have locked it
if he mugs you, you shouldn't carry money,
no one is responcible for their own actions, and this goes for adults too.
I get sick of hearing the excuse of being poor, I came thru the depression, I know what is "poor"

you hit the bullseye about the "bar" we have watched that bar being raised over and over, to the"norm' or "society standards"
I personaly resent the Idea that "for adult audiences" or "mature" means that when I reached 21 0r some set age I sudenly should appreciate smut, vulgarity or bad manners.
at the risk of ruffling feathers, I will say that I am bothered by posts here that use *** and the like to camaflage bad language, certainly does not set a good example for the youth (or adults)

Skywalker... I do not find that story true at all..
Either you are one of the more immature people on the board, and/or that story has not even one bit of truth to it.
Darn right people, most of you are nailing this issue with whats exactly true! Not to cut on you tomuch Jad but come on! Blame the grandfather? Blame the kid who stole the gun! I dont understand why humans are totally unresponsible for whatever action they take no matter what, its alwas someone elses fault and not there own.
the US has a problem with blame, we dont like having ANY. for coumbine, it was music, but c'mon, if you shoot someone cuz of some lyrics, then you have problems. The paretns should have been blamed. If i were building bombs in my garage, my parents would know in a matter of hours, those parents didnt realize anything was wrong for months.

It's lack of morality in the home, and a severe shortage of real "self respect." By "self respect" I'm not refering to a feeling that, "Hey, I'm a bad-*** dude." We all have succumbed to peer pressure, but there's a line that must be recognized, and exercising one's self respect will keep you on the right side of that line. Many kids (and many adults) haven't a clue what life is about, and how they are to act, and what their real goals are for tomorrow, next month, or this lifetime. Because a lot of people engage in ignorant, disrespectful behavior, it gradually seems to become referred to as "the norm." Then the bar gets raised for conduct to again be outrageous. I agree with the comment by Oblivion about the so-called news programs. "We're live where two persons were just shot!" "I'm Robby Reporter, live where the latest bomb went off, killing 19!" "I'm Nat News, and we're live where 9 persons were killed in an accident where alcohol was a factor. All these stories, then the weather." What garbage. I only watch PBS. And then there's Rikki Lake and Jerry Springer, etc. Unreal, hearing the poor ignorant audience members mob (lack-of) mentality chanting "Rikki, Rikki." And teenage kids having kids either as a status symbol or some other inappropriate reason. Life is too precious and time is so fleeting. Well, I like many of you could go on forever on this topic. I think the only thing one can do is start with yourself and be a good person. Okay, I'm off the soapbox.
