Networking 3 computers to play Alpha Centauri and kept getting a lot of lock-ups on the upkeep automated phase.
Working on a netgear DS104 10/100 hub.
Host system was a pIII 550 with 128 mb PC100 RAM - complete software load on UDMA66 7200 rpm hard drive on a 100baseT network.
Connected was a pII400 HP laptop at 100base t and an AMDk6-2 desktop - 266 at 10 base t
All network drivers were the latest.
Tried both TCP/IP and IPX protocols and I'm pretty sure it's the game locking up - not the systems, as all three systems still functioned normally and could still see each-other on the network. All computers were put into the same work-group and had i.p. addesses with the same subnet - 255.255.255.0
Everything else turned off - no remaining tsrs were running on any system.....
Any ideas?
