I'm having a problem running some games. I have a commadore 64 and I can't run Unreal Tournament or Quake Arena...Why? I purchased a geforce 256, but it doesn't fit in my case, I think I need an AGP or GPA or something like that. I'm pretty confused! My computer has 4 MB SIMM, so I think I'm O.K. there.

A Commodore 64?!?!? Yikes! Thought those were 80s computers. GPA (grade point average)? I think you mean PCI or AGP. Uhhhhhhh.....it's time to upgrade. Forgive me if I'm wrong here. My knowledge of computer history is limited. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I can remember a post here about someone who overclocked his TI pocket-calculator, he just gave it a bit more juice. So just plug your Commodore64 into yer nearby Nucleair Powerplant, perhaps then you can run all the games you'd ever wanted to try http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

You mean to tell me a self-professed "rocket scientist" can't figure this out? geez.

Interesting first post though. Welcome to sysopt. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif But since this is totally off the wall and incredibly insane, I will keep it going....get some of the hampsters they carry, overclock them, and that should make up for the difference in hardware..as for the geforce, just stick it into the cartidge slot...and make sure you force it, until you hear something that sounds like its breaking (namely, your geforce). then superglue it in. that should do it.

I would think that rocket scientists get paid enough to atleats afford a TRS-80 or even a 286?

Thanks for all of your help. However, I tried forcing my geforce into my cartridge slot. I got it in, but how do I install the drivers? It seems as if the drivers are located on some sort of mini record that's all shiny.

By the way, is that thing with the hamsters legal?

I know how to do it. Take the Geforce give it to me, I'll install it in my computer, install the latest drivers and that should do it. I know it will work just give me a chance http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

The best way to install drivers in a 64 is to set your computer in the middle of your local Highway and the drivers will take care of your 64 nicely. lol

By the way, obviously this wasn't an issue during the days of the C64 but can someone verify this? I have heard that the 6510 chip on 64 ran at .5 MHZ. True? The original Big Blue (IBM) must have seemed like a speed demon at 4.77 MHZ!
