I've upgraded from an old p133 to a Cel366,
I bought a new p2-99 Asus MB, 366 retail Cel 366, 64 meg pc100, new case
Now... I am putting in my 6.8 gig Maxtor, 8x creative CDRom, ISA Soundblaster, ISA USR 33.6 modem (no point in upgrading.. cable soon heh.) And Canon printer but that's not really relevant. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I tried putting in my PCI ATI 2 meg mach 64 vid card but apparently it is somehow incompaible (system doesn't boot - with other PCI vids it does.)
So I'm going to get a Riva TNT2 hopefully later this week (though I'm hard up for cash a little bit now ... maybe get the 16 meg version? About 60-80 bucks cheaper here in Canada.) If I can find the 16 meg version around here that is (I've only seen the 32 meg). Maybe it would be good to go with the Asus if they're available/good price? ( I would hope that would ensure compatibility.. heh.)
Now.. I just hope to have no further.. incompatibility problems (the system doesn't boot with the ATi.. it will boot with other vid cards at the store.) I've really only heard of video card incomp. problems. These the only type that happen usually?
And.. I might overclock to 412 or 458 mhz. The only thing that I should have a problem with is the hard drive (though I've seen many posts on this topic - many people fix it by turning down the PO to 3.) Have to see I guess.
