Well I got a playstation, and I had been working on a game, Syphon Filter 2, and I was pretty far along in the game. Then last night, my video card got erased I guess. I turned it on, and there were no saved games. Does anyone know why this happened? Bad Memory Card? Old memory Card? Random thing?

Do you Really want to chance getting that far in a game again only to find that your save has disapeared the next time you play?
Go and buy a new card, they're not that expensive.

The only time that happened to me was with a standard Sony memory card. I was kind of ticked to lose my FF7 games at the time. I still blame my brother. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Stick with the offical Sony ones. The other makes are not too great and definitly stay away from the type that offer greater storage unless you want to loose your saved games on a regular basis.

I don't know about that, Catcow. My Sony did wipe out on me once, but my 180 block (I think) Interact memory card never failed me. It was a pain to change pages though.

Switching you PSX on and off with the memory card inserted can cause a power spike which clears your save games.

Try powering on then insert the card and remember to remove it before powering off.

I used 2 1meg Sony cards and a 360 card both had problems until i read this tip in Playstation Plus and i've never had a problem with the same cards for over a year.

The only memory cards I trust are official Sony ones, that's because it's happened to me plenty of times using the cheaper one's.
You get what you pays!
(but if it is a Sony card, I've heard they don't last forever you know)

I see what you mean Eli. I've just had bad experiences with non Sony cards. Out of the nine cards i've owned, 3 have wiped games and they were all non Sony whereas the 6 Sony ones I current have are fine and behave themself's (Touch wood).
