Forget who suggestest it might work, but I too thought it might work. Especially since they do make ps/2 port Y-cables. So I blew $8-10 on one and tried it...and no go. At least not with my two Logitech wheelmice. Windoze won't reconize either one. If I unplug one and still have the other one go through the Y-cable, then it works just fine.
(yes I connected/disconnected the ps/2 devices with the power off...I know better than that.)

Whoa....I made a difference in someone's life http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. Didn't think anyone ever took my advice. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I'm the one who suggested the idea.....unfortunately http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. I'm sorry about your financial loss but at least now you and I know it doesn't work and won't recommend it to others.
Next question is: How is a Y-cable used?

eh, no big deal. I got it at Fry's, so I'll just return it and demand my money back, or at least store credit. I've found almost anything is returnable if you just raise enough hell. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Yeah, I've heard about Fry's http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. I've never been to one but you guys have said enough that I don't ever want to!
That thread about Fry's employees had me laughing pretty hard. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Hey, don't knock Fry's. You can get some GREAT deals there. The only stipulation is that you must know your stuff, know what you want to buy, go in and find it, buy it and get out. And don't ever talk to any of the employees! But if you must speak to one, just make sure you don't pose anything in the form of a question...sometimes their heads explode.

Did you happen to try the Y with one mouse and a keyboard?

That's what I like about the people around here...always thinking. I'll give that a try Dave. Thanks.
