New HL Patch crashin' anyone else's computer?

So WTF?!? I d/l'ed the new patch, and now half-life crashes when I try to play on-line using Gamespy. I can play offline and online if I use HL's in-game WON multiplayer, but I'd much rather use Gamespy.

I tried deleting HL and installing again with patch, but no go...I have the latest registered Gamespy version too....Any suggestions?

PIII600@800, Asus V6800 Deluxe (3.75 asus drivers), MX300, PC133Ram, IBM 18gig 7200, Win 98SE, Dx7A.

I've heard that you need the FULL patch (1.x.x.x -> 1.1.0.0) to prevent problems. It's another few megs, but worth the peace of mind.
