I hadn't been playing UO for about a month, so I decided to try out some multiplayer but first had to freshen up my skills in training. I selected my customary "freshen upper" - go through Double Room with the .45 as quick as possible.

But when I open the door and attempt to double tap (click mouse twice) the first guy, it is slow to respond. The first shot went out fine but the shot right after it took another full second to come out. I went throught the level with the gun shooting sporadically when I would press the "trigger" (mouse button). Sometimes I would click 4 times and 2 shots would come out.

I tried a restart but it didn't do anything. What's wrong here? Should I reinstall it? I have a strong craving to play mp now that I can stay up till 1am because of no school http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.

Maybe it is just us, but I also had a similar problem with Urban Ops. Never had a problem with Rogue Spear, but a soon as I installed Urban Ops, the game would just stop for a sec or two right in the middle of the game. This happens about every 30 seconds, and is an annoyance when playing multi. Worse yet, Rogue does it now also. I switched video cards and that didn't help. Personally, I am stumped, and kind of stopped playing because of it. Anybody else have this problem?

just a suggestion out of the air, but try upping the mouse sampling rate using a utility such as ps2rate (sorry dont have a link, try Google for it)

Or try a different mouse, maybe the button is on the way out through years of abuse and neglect http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

As for the occasional freezing, it sounds like your system is falling down somewhere (UO is more demanding than RS apparently). You could try defragging, increasing virtual memory, or buying more physical memory. If you can play at a lower resolution or detail level without stuttering, that may be the problem...

hehehe.....here goes-

My system is Celery 400mhz w/192mb RAM. Have an Intellimouse Explorer which is 6 months old. The only issue that might be a prob is that since I played it last (month ago) I have put the Intellimouse in the USB port instead of PS/2. Should I reinstall the game? or should I switch back to PS/2?

A month ago, it worked flawlessly.

I think I'm gonna try reinstalling it first, but I'll wait till you guys respond. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Ok....nevermind. I was fooling around in the Multimedia section of the Control Panel yesterday. I had downloaded a sound recorder program the other day called "Total Recorder". Good prog but it had decided to plop itself into the "Preffered Device" slot. Instead of my soundcard selected it said "Total Recorder". So I changed it back and it worked great! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
