I was browsing through the channels today, since AT&T moved them all around, and stumbled upon the ZDTV channel. They have some tech support guys on in a show called The ScreenSavers or something. This guy phoned in with a problem, his self-built P3 600 (OEM) and Soyo board were getting heat alarms. The tech guys found out it was getting the alarm at 60 celsius, and the user moved it up to 80 celsius. They said he was fine. (He did, by the way, have a fan and heatsink on it, surprisingly enough) It was just a mess. The nthey got to talking about where the sensor is. One guy told him for sure that the sensor was built in underneath the slot, and when the second guy talked about how he heard there was a circuit in the CPU that with certain calculations could get a temp, the other one like..completely disagreed with him, stating that was for those "extreme" computing groups. At this point I was on the floor laughing my *** off. Are these guys for real? Anyone else seen them? They have a great tidbit on overclocking at their site, http://www.thescreensavers.com

I read the overclocking tidbit and it sounds like they don't know or want you to know much about the "evils" of overclocking http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.

They provide a great amount of service for many people. Leo the older one, probably the one who was using the extreme method, used to have a female co-host (KATE now on game spot tv, same channel) and the show was better with her. And I thought it would be better without her. Anyhow Leo also hosts another show Call for help. I think Scott was on the screen savers once? At least they talked about this site.

Leo is a very helpful individual but he gears his show more towards the new pc users (which is not a bad thing at all..i wish I had a show like that when I first started messing with computers). The last thing he would want is a newbie cracking open his pc and trying to overclock. Although I do believe he likes to brag about his dual overclocked celeron rig quite often, so he is no stranger to the evils http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif I still enjoy catching the show though.

Yeah I was on that show three times actually. Once by phone, once in their studio, and once at Comdex. Leo knows his stuff, and Kate did too - but Kate left, sadly.
Anyway, yeah Leo and Patrick Norton do appear to conflict / differ in opinion sometimes, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Pat is in a new role, and is probably trying to figure out what his place is exactly. The same thing happened to Kate when the show was brand new - Leo wanted to be "in charge", or so it seemed, and may be the case now.
I think it's a good show, though I watched it much more often when Kate was on it.

I remember the first shows http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif, they helped me allot.
It does kind of remind me how Kate and Leo started out. Leo did just kind of take charge. It really is a shame she is not on Screen Savers anymore. I even remember Leo getting Kate started on Linux!

Yeah Leo does try to take over the show, constantly interupting Patrick just as he did Kate. Maybe that's why she left. I find that TSS is geared more towards advanced users and Call for Help towards newbies. I know my stepdad follows Leo's advice to the "T". We argue alot http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I saw the episode with you Scott http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
