Just wondering if anyone uses one of those Microsoft mouses that uses a lazer type of eye instead of a ball. Is it acccurate and is it worth it? Reason I ask is because I play UT and if my mouse is at all dirty, it messes my whole game up.

Ive used the MS Explorer mouse for a little bit (The big silver/grey one)
I really didnt like it for gaming, because the way I normally move my mouse, it kept loosing traction because it didnt have the ball as a counterweight to my hand movements to keep it down on the pad.
Maybe your experience will be different, because I doubt that many people are like me, since Ive heard many rave reviews of the laser eye mice.

BTW theres a new one coming out from Dexxa (brand name of Logitech), that looks almost just like the explorer cept half the price.
If I get one at all, thatll be the one for me to look at.

Thanks for the info. Does the one you mentioned have a wheel and a third button on the side of the mouse?

I have the Mircosoft Explorer mouse, and I love it. It's the best mouse (accuracy) that I've ever used. I love jumping off of platforms in Q3 and railing a guy across the room as I fall.

Let's put it this way. Once you get this mouse, you NEVER want to go back to a PS2 or any other USB.

In my opinion there is no other mouse. The MS Explorer Mouse is the stuff. I gave one to my best friend for Christmas and he didnt even take it from the box for 3 months. Once he did he was so impressed he called me immidiately and then talked his dad into getting one.

Yes they do have two buttons on the side, two on top and a scroll wheel w/button. Save your pennies and buy one. I got mine at a computer show for 49.00. They retail for 69.00 though.

INTELLIMOUSE EXPLORER RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were several occurances that forced me to buy one:

(1) My hand is big
(2) I have a dog. White hairs get on mouse pad.
(3) Died too many times in HL 'cause of crapped up ball
(4) Found at Buy.com for $50

I still use a mouse pad because it sounds better than the wood table top. But the pad is full of hairs http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.

Get one. Now.

I'm sold, know anywhere where I can get one relatively cheap? If not, I am getting one regardless. Shoot, if anything I'll go to Best Buy, buy it and return it if it's not as good as I thought.

You check out the differences betwen the Dexxa and the Explorer
Only huge diff seems to be the second button on the side
even the body, size, and everything seems to be the same
well...theres the price... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

I just installed Win2000 and it recognizes all funtions of the Explorer mouse without adding any extra software. Now it wont let you reprogram the buttons this way but the default settings are how I use it anyway.

That Dexxa optical is made by Logitech wich would give me some faith in the product. There listed retail prices for the Explorer are much higher than I see around here. I wonder how much lower the Dexxa would be.

I see the prices were based on Australian stores.
