Not really my nature to point out the obvious, but I had my first experience with lag. So as you may know, I'm a half-life nut, and I like playing here in the computer labs against anyone who steps up. Well, they finally updated Half-Life to the latest version, so I went on WON, and joined a game. LAG SUCKS! I hit a button, and it reacts LITERALLY one second later. It was so hard to aim like that, and it was not much fun. I maintained third out of seven (1st was a camper), but I didn't find it fun. Anyway, I tried everything, lowering the decals, using low quality everything, and adjusting the rate, and nothing worked. Guess WON is a world I will have to leave behind http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif.

I feel you dude, I also enjoy multiplayer halflife, but I am considering giving it up because of the delay of cable internet implementation in my area. This stupid 56k connection makes it impossible to be a good sniper!!!

I dont think WON as to to do with lag,its probably more or ISP or the game server that creating the lag. I think WON is just a server to collect the IP of server so you can join them via Internet.

If all you have is a modem, internet games will never be any good. If you have a ISDN, xDSL, Cable modem, or something better like a T-1, then internet gameing is actually quite fun. I have a modem, but I still play multiplayer HL over the net', yes it is laggy, but I live with it...

But as soon as DSL or Cable is available, this will no longer be a problem. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Yeah, goto www.inyc.com (http://www.inyc.com) or www.freedsl.com (http://www.freedsl.com) for free DSL access if your too cheap to pay for it. Also this www.dailyradar.com/features/game_feature_page_628_1.html (http://www.dailyradar.com/features/game_feature_page_628_1.html) helped me out quite a bit. That program, ispeed, sped up my downloads from about 2kps to 5kps! I know, still terrible, but over twice as fast!
