l have a AMD K6II 350 with 64 MB of ram & a voodoo2 card..l know l need to get a new 3D card but,
what's the best way to update...
buy different components (like 128MB of ram, over clocking , etc) or..
just go and get a whole new tower..like a ATHLON 750 with 128 MB of ram & a GForce card??

as you can see l don't know a great deal about all this..just want a good system to run the new games..
please help..

Well, how much are you willing to spend? If you don't want to spend that much, you could just overclock your CPU, add more RAM, and perhaps SLI your current Voodoo2. I looked your CPU up on www.overclockers.com (http://www.overclockers.com) , and a lot of them reach 450 Mhz. Just get a good heatsink/fan, and let `er rip. As for the RAM, I would definitely upgrade that. You could get another 64 megs for around $50, or 128 megs for around $100. As for the 3d card, if you don't have an AGP, then you could get another Voodoo2 to SLI it. Or you could get a PCI video card like the Voodoo3 or the PCI Geforce. The cost of a new system would be more, but again, it all comes down to what you're willing to spend, and what you want out of your system.

Szech is right. First you need to decide how much you wanna spend. If you're going for small upgrades, get more memory and then a new vid card. If you can oc do it, but I've seen that RAM matters more than processor. Although in your current configuration, it might do some good, because game requirements are kinda catching up to your 350. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

You might be better selling the v2 and putting the money toward a v3 or tnt2 as people still want them for a sli rig so yu should get a descent price for what is relativly old now. Or you could keep it for glide games and get the TNT2 anyway.
