I am currently using FreeWWeb/WorldSpy and I lag heavily in 1st person games like CounterStrike/UT/TFC. I was wondering if getting a paying ISP would help. If so which one???

I would say most definitly. first, if money were not a major concern: a cable modem or dsl will solve 99percent (or at least it has for me) lag problems. You wont want to go back to a regular modem.

BUT, considering the fact that your using a free isp shows you are part of the money is an object group (good to have you) http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I still think a small local isp will help with lag. Things like AOL or prodigy wont help muhc since there are so many customers. See if you can find a small locally run one that does nto have many subscribers. It will probably still have more horsepower then the free isp's.

Dont use AOL man!! I had AOL way back when they were offering 10 free hours. They screwed my phone bill and charged me 900 bucks in long distance calls when I was using a local access number!!!

SCREW THEM!!!
