darkstone and the pods

has anyone figured out how to kill the wasp generating flowers on level 10. im getting killed out there.

in the two times I replayed it I have not come across any (weird huh?). Only thing I can think of would be to try magic or just go kamikaze and slash it to hell!

i tried that but the pods dont have a health bar when you put the cursor on them but they do highlight. i tried using magic bomb but to no effect. when you get too close to the pods these little things that look like spiders come out and shoot you with some type of magic. look like spiders but are called giant wasps. man am i stumped.
