Vortex 2 = NO SOUND ON BOOT UP!!!! KILLS GAMING!!

Hello. I have a SQ 2500 Vortex 2 sound card with newest drivers. I get this error message on bootup>
Vortex Dos Driver (2.007)
Error#9: Audio hardware not present or incorrect audio version. Driver not loaded.
I used to reboot a couple of times then i would have sound, but that does not work anymore. I tried changing the card's pci slot but nothing has helped. I still get no sound and the vortex 2 is not in the control panel. Please help. Is my card busted. malachi

Have you checked for to see if you have any hardware conflicts? My MX300 (Vortex 2)had similiar errors when I had conflicting DMA's or IRQ's. Wouldn't load the Dos drivers or the Sound Blaster ones.
