Choppy-stutters

Hey dont worry, I have a P3-700, with 256Mb and an ATI 128 Pro and it stutters!!! Ive stopped trying to play games like UT or Quake 3, or anything new and fancy like that, as it aint worth it!! U.T. play is uneven,not smooth at all yet Q3 is ok on my AMDK6-3-450 W/ Rage 128 Xpert,I suspect it is tim for a new video card.... I've tried new drivers from ATI (they suck),any suggestions would be appreciated.

Voodoo3s tend to run things relatively smooth, although if you have the $$ a Geforce is the way to go. Before you get a new vid card, how much RAM do you have, does your HD access often during gameplay? On my 64mb in Quake3, my HD accesses about every 8 seconds or so, slowing my FPS every "you guessed it, 8 seconds"

128 mb,I've never noticed I'll check tonight.. I've found the Ge-Force(Guillemot 3d Prophet for $139)SO I MIGHT.....
