Counter-Strike, Simply the best game ever!!!

Now I know that Counter-Strike isn't technically a game, it's a mod for Half-Life, but still isn't it the best game ever? I think it is because it doesn't have any outrageous weapons such as super plasma launchers but realistic ones. The models look realistic. The levels are realistic. And the game keeps improving with every beta! I also like the teamplay and the fact that if you die you have to wait out the entire match before respawning, it gives you so much more of a rush when you are playing! Also, there's lots of strategy, something you won't find in a game like Quake 3 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif That game just sucks. Unreal Tournament is good too, and with SWAT coming out (Counter-Strike clone) that's bound to be just as good. CS is an excellent and well thought-out game, but I don't think it deserves the title of "The Best game ever". It is a milestone in gaming, and even when HL is long gone... CS will still be played on the net' and in LAN parties(Yummy). As the best computer game ever will continually change as technology advances.

But for right now, it is safe to say that CS is the Best game of these times.

I think CS is cool even without it being super gory like SoF. I think it's better that way because it takes the fun and thrill of real life action, but none of the shocking disturbingness of actually killing other people.

On another note, paintballing is the most fun sport I have ever played. It is like real life CS.

Hell yeah, I love that game, I played over the weekend about 11 hours and 30 minutes. My friends have played 15 hours semi non-stop just with a short lunch break. Here in Los Angeles there are some crazy Counter-Strike freaks, they don't go to school just to play LAN party games. Yeah! Now that I have my broadband connection (cable) I am lovin' CS soooo much more.

I played a lot with my 56k, and it was fun...but now it ROCKS THE HOUSE. I get around 50 ping, so now when I set my AWP crosshairs on somebody, I can't miss.

Excuse my ignorance, but I have never played games online. Do you have to pay? and if so how much? Also do these mods work for single play?

bhess, the only thing you have to pay for is the game itself and the internet access. Depending on the type of internet connecion you have, the gameplay differs. I is a much more enjoyable experience if you have DSL, ISDN, Cable Modem, or if you are lucky enough a T-1 or T-3. Very few of the mods have single player capalibilites(not including bot mods). The only one I can think of besides HL and Op4 is Action Half-Life, but I may be wrong. I hope this helps!
