I loved the game "Goldeneye" 4 the Nintendo 64 game system, I even got a joystick controller for my PC with the intent of getting a Goldeneye-type game, Are there any games out there like that or even like Mission Impossible for the PC?

Well when my friends played halflife, they kept calling it 'golden eye for comp' for some strange reason..maybe that?

Check this (http://007.ea.com/) out.

EA is releaseing a shooter of the 007 mantra based on the Quake3 engine. There's 5 screenshots in the "PC/Playstation 2" section.

Well if it's the adventure/first person shooter stuff you like (i.e. a plot) then Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, Kingpin or the upcoming Soldier of Fortune may all have aspects that you are looking for too... namely sneaking around and blowing things up...

Why don't you just download an N64 emulator and download Goldeneye, and there ya go! I have heaps of N64 emulator games, easy to set up and play too.

Now Snuffy, you do own an actual copy of those N64 games, right? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif Otherwise it's illegal (piracy), and things like that are frowned upon around here...

Of course I don't own a copy, what a silly question! why buy something, when u can just download it from the net? Everyone pirates, it's just not many people admit it.

You buy a copy because it's illegal to download a copy for personal use without doing so. Seems self explanatory to me... Sure, a lot of people pirate software and don't care to admit it, but it's another thing to tell everyone openly that you do so on a public and well respected forum.

Very well put, Eli. Suggestions to anyone to engage in piracy, or anything illegal, is most certainly frowned upon here. Such are best left at the front door.

Snuffy, I think you're just blowin hot air-you don't even know what warez are. Lemme tell ya, you'll distance yourself from others if you try to be a punk just to be a punk....

So eli and socalgal, are you guys saying that you dont have Any MP3s that you have not legally purchased? Never copyied a friends tape to listen to at home?

IMO MP3 piracy is even worse then software piracy, because an artist directly loses money, where a usually huge corperation is losing the money in a software piracy issue.

(I do know that you socalgal have to maintain
a certain stance on piracy here, and I understand that fully, and I respect it)

Why is ever one talking about piracy all of a sudden? The question posted was on games. To answer that question: yeah, Half-life is fun-fun-fun plus since it is not new anymore, it is cheap too. Rainbow Six Was not too shabby either. Stick to these classics!

Socalgal and Eli, everyone is a pirate of some kind. Mp3's, Appz, Gamez, music cd's whatever. Ya don't have to be such a goodie goodie about it. Some deveolopers don't even bother trying to make their games uncrackable, such as Motocross Madness, Baldurs Gate and Planescape Torment, where you don't even have to download a crack.

I wouldn't get warez games if normal games weren't so expensive. Where I live in Australia, a new game is $90 - $100.

This simply isn't the forum to discuss it. I think I can saftly say EarthWeb does not want to have anything to do with the illegal distribution of software. This is completely understandable IMHO.

It's common knowledge that this topic is frowned upon on this board, and posting your veiws here will only close a valid thread.

I was not condoning the use of pirated software myself,I was actually trying to bring attention to the fact that piriting MP3s is just as bad as pirating software(and IMO it is worse,as it affects an artist directly in almost all cases)yet everyone can so calmly talk about ripping MP3s and napster like it is no big deal to pirate that type of stuff, yet it is illegal too.

I find this funny, this guy at another forum I am a member of(the forum is way lax there)
started ragging on this guy and hounding him because he had asked for some good warez links in a thread(this is not something the mods there are concerned about),he was calling him names and all kinds of ****...telling him he was immoral and basically calling him scum.
Well this same guy that was calling all of the names and insulting the guy asking about warez, was talking about getting some rage against the machine MP3s off of napster, and how much he loved napster because he was too broke to buy any CDs,so he always got his music off of napster.

And I thought "what a double standard SOB",there he was doing the very thing he had preached and flamed about to this guy that was asking where to get some "warez"..
well to me there is no difference between DLing MP3s and DLing programs that you do not own.

(I am not refering to socalgal or the mods here, just people's attitudes in general on the subject, seems to be hypocrytical)

Opps I realize I might have sounded a bit off of the base I was shooting for in the original post,I feel that any kind of pirating someone may or may not do should not be talked about and posted all over this fine BBS.

I was just trying to make a point, thats all,(I do not wish to edit my post(I want people to see what was originally there, and not to be confused later on)not trying to attack of defend anyone.

And snuffy,do not talk about stuff that you have pirated openly here,it doesnt draw good energy to you here,no matter how good your intentions were.

Just remember that DLing software/roms/MP3s is illegal unless you own a legitment license to use said software/roms/MP3s.

I for one never claimed I didn't have any MP3s on my computer. In fact, there's quite a few. I see no point in spending money on a CD of twelve songs just to listen to one favorite. Kind of like getting a demo of a good game and instead of buying it you just play the demo over and over again. Alas, as Seti has said, this is not the forum to discuss it in.

Holy moly! Whoops, didn't mean to start that big disscusion, sorry guys http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Anyway, the closest game on the PC I can think of to GoldenEye would be a game called
"Codename: Eagle" which is an FPS against communists, which is basically what Goldeneye is about. In "Codename Eagle" you are a mercanary for the West (Naturally). It has 12 missions, and you have to take out key
targets. Of course this means the game is full of close combat, espiange, destroying specific targets, sniping, stealing and using tronnes of vehicles etc. Real wicked game, though the AI is a little dodgy. This is very apparent when you enter a new area, and an enemy is battling to push his way through the middle of a tree to get to me, heh heh. You should check it out, real fun http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

You can download the demo at http://www.3dfiles.com/games/codenameeagle.shtml

On the demo page, it even sais
"Building on the success of classics such as N64's Goldeneye." Heh, so there ya go http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, seems everyone just decided to use my topic as a national debate on pirating software etc., hehe...That's alright snuffy, I for no reason meant to start such a debate and I would've stopped it sooner if I had been here, but unfortunately i HAve been away on urgent business...If u all would like to start a forum of ur own on pirating or illegal affairs, please do so somewhere else. I don't mean to be hasty or mean to anyone, but I started this topic in the respects that I might get some advice on getting a new game, and look what happenned. Let's not say one more word about anything relating to what was said earlier, and SoCalGal...if u could just leave this thread open so i can catch the responses some of the people had on new games.

Computers are on a new virge of existenz, we don't know what will happen to the net, and all of the issues dealing with illegal and immoral activities, but I hope that most of can appreciate what we have... one of the most technologically advanced ways of getting every peace of information ever thought possible--> the Internet.

Thank you for all of your responses to my topics I've posted and the your help, I hope that from now on the responses u post will be related to the topic I posted.

Jadison, my apologies. It was kind of my fault your thread took off into left field. Good luck looking for a game.

Well keep up the reviews guys, I'm in the process of downloading that game: CodeEagle (I have a 33.6 Modem, so it'll take a few years 2 download), but I'm still looking for new game ideas, there's no limit to how many games one can have (actually there is it's called a hard drive!!), so I still would like some more suggestions!

Thanks

If you have UT (legally..hehehehe), and you want a cool mod that gives you all the goldeneye weapons including throwing knives and proximity mines, check out AgentX here:http://www.planetunreal.com/modcentral/

Travis

There is a ton of other cool mods there too

I also loved GoldenEye. In college I'd sometimes drive over 100 miles and spend the weekend at a friends house playing it. However...

IMHO Half-life is THE game. Like goldeneye it has great single player aspect which can be played over and over - it won game of the year by over 50 mags. BUT, multiplay is simply awesome!! The graphics are not as good as Q3 or UT (I have both) but the gameplay is better. Less reactionary and more skill involved. Plus there are many, many mods such as CounterStrike, and Team Fortress Classic (TFC). Try do download a demo. Also, you can get both HL and its expansion pack together for the price of UT or Q3

Also the Action mod for Quake II is pretty close for Goldeneye, BUT it is mostly multiplayer. you can get action quake at http://action.telefragged.com/
