The UT cd has built in copy protection. It has bad areas on the cd on purpose so that they will not be copied. I have burned it and it works fine to install, but it still asks for cd when trying to play it. You need a burner that can RAW burn in order to copy it, or you can download a crack that lets you play without the cd insered. This is what I did as I don't want to risk damaging the original cd by constantly inserting and removing it from the drive.

Yeah, I use no-cd cracks with my back-ups as well. It seems to be the only way you can back-up your own games now. I've found that even if you use the crack, you can still insert the back-up and get the cinematic scenes. Besides, inserting the CD every time you want to play the game is kind of a pain in the ***, epecially if it makes alot of noise.

Has anyone been able to do this, if you copy the contents of the cd to a directory, it reads 897kb and 21 objects, and the master cd reads 953kb and 21 objects. and yes it is set to show me all files, it seems to be losing kb's in the sub-directories.

can anyone help?

Try burning the cd with Nero...it worked for me.
