I was wondering if anyone has had this message when installing an mx300 soundcard, and what can be done to fix it?

Not exactly -- but my MX300 emulation posts an error message on boot up and the Sound Blaster emulation doesn't work due to a DMA conflict with my printer port. If you have (as I do) your printer port set for ECP in bios, it may be using DMA 3 which your MX300 wants to use. The sound still works and, so far, the inability to emulate Sound Blaster hasn't affected any of my programs, so I keep the printer port on ECP to allow error communications with my printer.

Obviously, this may not be the problem you are having. May depend on your motherboard. I am running on an Abit BE6-II. I am just mentioning this because it didn't occur to me that my printer port and sound card could conflict -- took me a while to figure this one out -- and maybe you are in the same boat.

Hey Tom, what drivers are u using? I got that message a couple of times, but was able to manually work around it.(had to switch the PCI slot it was in, seems to like slots 2 and 3 http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif)(I've got a BE6-II as well)
The latest drivers from A3D for the Vortex 2 work really well with it too. (and they have EAX support http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif)
