I'm in training to be MCSE certified, and was wondering what my electives should be. I heard that TCP/IP would be stupid since it's getting replaced. I don't know, any expertise would be great.

Who says TCP/IP is getting replaced? By what? marcvi 05-25-2000, 07:28 PM I don't know? I've just heard from many people that it would be foolish and useless to get TCP/IP as an elective. MadMatt 05-26-2000, 07:27 AM mgordon99 is absolutely right - TCP/IP is here to stay and is by far the most useful elective. The other one I'd suggest is exchange server - chances are that if a company is running NY they're using exchange for their e-mail. Talismanic 05-26-2000, 11:19 AM At one time there was a rumor that the TCP/IP elective for NT4 was not going to count for an elective for W2K MCSE. Since then I think MS has said that all electives fot NT4 will count at least until they are retired. I would suggest you check MS's MCSE Site (http://www.microsoft.com/mcp/certstep/mcse.htm) for requirement information. Talismanic 05-26-2000, 11:27 AM Here is the list of exams that MS is going to retire. TCP/IP for NT4 is on the list along with what will be required to keep your cert current.
