restoring lost files??... help appreciated!

I need to know if there is a way to find stuff on a portion of a hdd that has been reformated...
absolutely any sorts of suggestions are appreciated no matter how bizarre they may seem...

and type in 'unformat' to the search box thingy.

You may want to try this.

The demo version will not recover anything, but it will list all the files that can still be recovered.
Of course, once the data is overwritten, it is gone, so hopefully you have another partition you can install the program onto.
