Kinda suprised that I haven't seen any posts on this game yet....Is it 'cause no one is interested in the game? Everyone waiting for Q3? Or maybe 'cause people are playing and haven't had time to write??
Whatever the reason, and for those who care, here's my impression of the game after purchasing it 2 days ago (only $35 w/$10 store coupon at Electronics Boutique in Florida USA)....
First off, I am currently playing/lovin' Halflife, AvP, Kingpin, Nocturne, a litte QII still...Love on-line gaming too, but mostly only deathmatch; I haven't really learned/tried CTF, etc....
Important components of my system are PIII585, 256 RAM, V770 Ultra, 8 Meg V2 SLI, MX300...I play the game at 1024x768 in 32 color with high detail...
Now for my own humble opinions: In a word, FABULOUS!!!!! /forum/smile.gif The game runs very smooth on my setup, usually averaging about 43-46 fps...It looks BEAUTIFUL! Really can't say enough about how much I like how it looks, but I guess its been said enuff 'bout Unreal...I played alot of QIII Demo, and while fun, I think the game looks kinda "comic-bookish" to me...The whole look of UT seems much "richer" and more vibrant...It really is fantastic looking, down to the muzzle flashes, explosions, and incredible outdoor environments...
As for the game play, I feel that I will be playing this game for a LONG time....I like it so much, not sure I'll get to finish HL Opposing Force or Nocturne! I've only played single player, so can't comment on the on-line multi-play aspect yet (I know Unreal sucked, but I thought UT Demo played great on-line for me).
The tournament has standard deathmatch, domination, cpt, and assault. Like I said, I didn't know much about games other than deathmatch, but UT has GREAT in-game tutorials to teach you how to play each type of game....VERY cool!
The bots are incredible, and I pretty much forgot I wasn't playing against & with real people...And the arenas, while I've only played a small portion of the 50 available, are mostly very good, with a few exceptional. Some are to "cramped" for my liking, and feel very restricting...But some are fantastic, especially the outdoors maps! All I can say is that with this many maps, everyone should find many for their likings...
The weapons are great also...I actually like them better than Q3's, which feel dated to me...The sniper rifle is KILLER, especially when using on a CTF map where you sit high in a castle takin' head shots at bots stealing your flag! There's a new razor/disk shooter, very cool, and the BFG nuclear weapon type gun is pretty devastating..And I just love the "John-Woo" style two fisted enforcer guns...Fun!
So far haven't experienced any bugs or crashes...There was a slight problem with the game detecting my V770 Ultra, but there were extra instructions in the manual addressing this issue...
Anyway, better go play some more b4 my wife kicks me off the computer...If you even remotely liked UT Demo, You should LOVE the full game...
Cheers!
