Unreal Won't Run

I just installed Unreal from the retail CD.
When I run it, the console appears, load of commands scroll down the console, then just as the game is about to start, a general protection fault occurs.

I tried to alter settings in Safe mode but none of the settings would change!!!

Help me please, I just can't fix it!

hey what video card are you using....
with that certain gpf fault that you specified that you have got a 3dfx banshee right??
if ya do go get the patches from the GT website....... I had that type of problem with my voodoo banshee with Need For Speed 3

From what I've heard, Unreal supports Glide only. This means that unless you have 3dfx you can't run it. Check your v. card. Maybe I'm wrong.

Upgrade to v2.20.

Jas101... it does support d3d. I was running it on my Matrox millennium g200. which means no glide...
