I have had problems with my 300a at 450mhz with locking in the middle of the game Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. I clock it normal with no problem. Wonder if it is a problem with cache timing. I have read that there are possible probelms with quakeII patched to 3.2 and Celeron 300s clocked at 450.
Any one else?
Tony

PS, its a great game and plays just as well at 300mhz.

It may be a cooling problem or something like that. You may want to try raising the voltage a bit, it usually makes the computer run more stably. Of course, you won't be able to tell the difference between 450 and 300, so if you are only playing SMAC right now, just set it to 300Mhz, it won't be a big deal.

It is not a cooling problem or a voltage problem. The CPU is stable at 450mhz. Many hours of usage and testing here at sysopt all say the CPU is fine.

Looks like a possible bug in Alpha Centauri. Easy fix, clock the 300a back to normal. It is well worth it since it is a kick a** game. I had the problem in the Demo and pre 3.0 patch full version.
