Is there a way to run Dnetc so that the user is not aware of it. Aka not having the Cow icon in the taskbar. I would like to put it on some systems but my users will be messing with it and **** and would rather not deal with that. So I was just curious to see if I could have it run as a service or process or whatever, just so the icon does not show up on the taskbar.

1. Copy the client on to the HDD somewhere

2. Create a shortcut to the executable with "-install" added to the command line

3. Double click the new shortcut. You should get a message that says something like, the client has been installed as a service and setup to start automatically.

4. delete the shortcut(optional) and reboot

Before doing this, ensure the client is already setup to send blocks under your email addy and send blocks through the proxy!

Hey if you did Install but rather DLed the files and just dumped em some where and started to crack you can add a couple lines to you dnetc.ini file that will make the client go invisible to the user which can only be found when you press CTL- ALT - DELETE combo and take a look at the list of things running. Also...... I noticed on a NT machine that I put it on as hidden when some one put the start menu down and kept the mouse clicked down a white box poped up with a cow at the top left. You couldnt see any of the info but it really made the person wonder what the hell was going on :P I would recomend the service install cause it will still run when at the login screen. (sorry if what im saying makes no sense.... im still a little tired.) oh well here it is

::code::

[display]
detached = yes

::end code::

that should be it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif have fun

If you install it as a service then it will not show up in the ctrl-alt-del either.

dnetc.exe -install -svcstart

This works on Win9x as well as NT. It will allow the client to run even if a user is not logged in.

Something you can add to your network is Remote Cows. Go here and scroll down and download it. Once you have the client loaded and configured on the machines, run Remote Cows on your server and you'll be able to check the status of the other machines, start and stop the client as a service, etc. Pretty neat little program!

Randy,

Thanks for the link, but don't think that will work for what I have. I have C5 crackin on three NT serves and two 98 desktop machines now. I want to add another 30 98 desktop machines. So I don't think the Remote Cow will let me check on the 98 machines. Which isn't a big deal. They are all on the net 24/7 .. the only thin I would like to be able to check is if they are active and crunchin.
