I have just received an email from a trusted friend, that a new virus has leashed out. It's not the kind you'll find in your email inbox, but your real inbox, that is to say your mailbox. It goes by the name of Klingerman virus, there have been 23 confirmed cases of people being attacked by the virus. Someone has been mailing large blue envelopes, seemingly at random, to people inside the US. On the front of the envelope in bold black letters is printed, "A gift for you from the Klingerman
Foundation." When the envelopes are opened, there is a small sponge sealed
in plastic. This sponge carries what has come to be known as the Klingerman Virus,
as public health officials state this is a strain of virus they have not previously encountered. When asked for comment, Florida police Sergeant Stetson said, "We are working with the CDC and the USPS, but have so far been unable to track down the origins of these letters. The return
addresses have all been different, and we are certain a remailing service is being used, making our jobs that much more difficult." Those who have come in contact with the Klingerman Virus have been
hospitalized with severe dysentery. So far seven of the twenty-three victims have died. There is no legitimate Klingerman Foundation
mailing unsolicited gifts. If you receive an oversized blue envelope in the mail marked, "A gift from the Klingerman foundation", DO NOT open it. Place the envelope in a strong plastic bag or container, and call the police immediately. The "gift" inside is one you definitely do not want. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU CARE ABOUT.

Yep, tis a load of B.S.
Jusw went to about.com, and searched it, it's bogus. I am not an M.D, but I thought dysentery was caused by a bacterial infection of the intestinal tract, not a virus?? If the people who start this **** would do a little more research, they could make them a lot more believable. Another major hint.."pass this on.."
EDIT> Jadison, please don't think I'm dogging you, I refer to the originators of the hoaxes.

I agree, this would be ALL over the news by now. They don't have much else to report on right now, so of course, they would blow it completely out of proportions. Just look how much this Elian Gonzalez thing got out of hand.

I wish people would research stuff before they post or forward emails.

heh, just finished some exams on dysentery. it's usually bacterial but some viruses can cause bad diarrhea. usually people don't die from it here as all you need to do is keep'em rehydrated until the "bug" wears off.

I myself thank you for the warning. even tho it is a make believe one. I get alot of business junk mail in my box all the time ect. and I would rather it be a make believe than a real one ect.
there was a warning about someone going to put a pipe bome in mail boxs here in the city where I live. well, everyone thought it was bull$hit. until a certain person opened her rueal mail box "alone side the road" and it blow her to $hits on the spot ect. right in the town of Yulee fl. next to where I live.
and her and her husband were life long friends of mine. and now the kids don't have a momma.
they caught the boy and he is getting his own box filled in prison. he he
so you go figure. better safe than dead. or spread out all over the place ect.

That's the problem sometimes people get paranoid sometimes, and others think it's a hoax, you never know who's right until it's too late. The key thing is to be wary. You can never be too sure about anything!!
I've never received the Lovebug virus or even any other virus for that matter, but I still take precautions, I have 2 virus scanners that are always up-to-date, as well as one firewall that scans viruses. You might as well be safe than sorry!
Personally I would love it if the world was a safe place to live. You wouldn't have to worry about if the next time you open your mail box it's going to be the last! But I've never seen such a world, so I can deal with reality. Life is what you make of it!
(I'm getting a little off topic aren't I http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif )
Anyway, like I said earlier, I research the warnings I get, and if one indeed seems to true and not a hoax, this BBS will be the 1st to hear about it! Along with the people in my address book.
That's another quality I like about this BBS, anything that happens in the real world (or the cyber world) and this place is the 1st to hear about it!
To all a good night!!
