Just downloaded it. Quite impressive! I have tried many unique media players: Sonique, Media Sauce, MidiPlus, Creative Labs LAVA and the usual like Winamp, Real Player and Music Match (and of course old version of WMP).

I always liked the visuals in Sonique and LAVA, but in the former there were not that many and in the latter, they didn't seem to go with the music at all http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.

WMP 7, on the other hand, has a LOT! They all seem to go in beat with the music too. My only problem with it is the way the types of music are displayed. There is a list of genres (which I hate to sort by) or a choice of listing All Audio. I would much rather have it search by file type (wav, mp3, mid, etc.) than having it show ALL the sound files on my computer.

I hope they fix that in the final release. Other than that, this is a HUGE upgrade from the previous versions.

seem ok to me. I just listened to the radio on it with no problems. I'll keep playing with it to get used to it.

Anybody figure out how to save anything yet?
I used to like in the other versions you could go under File and choose "save as".
That feature is missing on ver 7. On some file types you can't use the "right click and save target" choice either, It's just not there either.
I like the way before that you could listen to something and preview it, then if you liked it, you could use the "save as" if you wanted to keep it.

Unlike recent versions, does the newest version of Media Player play MPEG video efficiently?

Thanks Seti!

It apparently worked very well. I've seen the video before on that thread. It didn't play the music with the old media player, but this time it did. Guess it plays MPEGs http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.

What song is that?

Good Stuff!

The song is "between you and me" by The Ataris. They're a pretty good emo band. Other good songs by them are The last song I'll ever write about a girl, My so called life, My hotel year, not a worry in the world, San Dimas high school football rules, your boyfriend sucks....some others.

A lot of them can be had for free "legally" here (http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/102/the_ataris.html).

They used to have them up on there site (http://www.ataris.com), but now just have a link to that page...hmm.

It wouldn't auto update because it's a beta.

Somewhat related...RealPlayer 8 beta is avalible. Includeing RealJukebox 2 beta, and RealDownload...some sort of download utility(no kidding huh?).

I just installed it...so far is seams really sluggish.

I don't have any MPEG videos on my computer. I'd be more than happy to try if you could give me a link to an MPEG video preferably under 2mb. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
