Looking for the best places to get 'how to' knowledge on building websites. Anyone have any ideas? I just activated my webspace and it is EMPTY! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif
I need to get on the learning curve to make it rock. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

devloper.com
htmlgoodies.com
javascripts.com
those should start you out just fine (and lo-and-behold! they are also earthweb sites!) you could probably also checkout earthweb.com for more info.

Here is the class notes from a course I took last summer. was pretty neat. Goes into some detail on the different components of a website, what a good site has, and even has some great links for further reading.

Dreamweaver is not for beginners. I use frontpage 2000 just because it is EASY. I-VERY OFTEN-have to go edit the html of the site I am working on just to get it to do what I want (esp. with javascripting and such).
I don't see what the big deal is with DreamWeaver on those pages you made. I could have done those in frontpage in about 10 minutes (not invluding graphics time)

The problem with any "Advanced" WYSIWYG editor (ie: Front Page, Dreamweaver, Net Fusion, etc) is that you usually don't get the file structure you want, another problem is all the junk code you get, FP2000 dosn't do it as bad as most i've seen.
I would suggest getting WebEdit from Here (http://www.syspace.co.uk/res/tools.html), its a non WYSIWYG editor, pretty old but has some nice options. Then go to Page Resource (http://www.pageresource.com) and HTML Goodies (http://www.htmlgoodies.com) to learn HTML then build your knowledge up.
Its not very hard to get the basics of HTML once you start getting into scripting then thats when it may get hard.
