Why would you want a crappy PIII that run at
100mhz and slower cache when you can get
Athlon at 200mhz with full speed 512K cache?
The 1st level 128K cache is 4 times the size
of PIII 64K cache that enought to put them to shame.
I have done a little research and it look like Intel is far behind.
I'll rub as much salt into intel as much as possible, I will convince all the rich folk
to buy AMD instead.

I think you are a bit mistaken.

The Athlon runs at a 100MHz DDR bus, which means it transfers information on the rising and falling edges of the bus, thereby effectivy acting as if it has a 200MHz FSB.

The Athlon has 512K of cache running at 1/2 core speed for up to 700MHz CPUs, 2/5 for 750-950, and 1/3 for 1000MHz. The Coppermine CPUs use 256K of cache integrated onto the CPU die, allowing it to run the full clockrate of the CPU.

Though the Athlon is a superior CPU design (my primary box runs one), the coppermine starts to catch up at 850MHz, and exceeds the Athlon in performance at 1GHz.

The fact of the matter is, is that the Athlon is cheaper and better. However, people who don't know computers will buy Intel CPUs because they don't know the differnce.

Intel isn't going anywhere anytime soon. They probably have enough cash in reserve to see them through 10 non-profit years or more. Intel will, however, lose a great deal of their stranglehold on the market, and the competition that ensues will be greatly beneficial to the customers. More excellent CPUs as cheap as physically possible.

All in all, though I don't like Intel, I don't want them to go anywhere.

Intel & Amd will always be big rivals. I am an AMD fan but I believe Intel will be back with something better. Doesnt Intel build other components besides CPU's?

If Amd were to rule the world with it's cpu's, what would be stopping them from making the chips twice the price they are now????

I mean if you were the only chipmaker in the world, you would also think:

Hey, I can ask a lot more for these things, since I'm the only one who makes them!!!

So therefor, no chipmaker should have an absolute monopoly position!!!
And it'll never happen too, cause intel has more then enough resources to go on at least another 20 years I think, and Amd is getting stronger too, so they won't be out of business soon either!!!

Ban me? I am just expressing my opinion. I do not feel I am out of line here. I mean come on "Intel or AMD? Who will rule the world?" Is it not obvious that neither will?

The reason for me giving you a hard time is that it seems to me that you do not comprehend some of the things that have been pointed out to you. If you would take twenty minutes and review all the threads you have started this evening then you may be able to understand why I have giving you such a hard time. If not oh well, I have explained myself once and will not again.

I know if the admids had a problem with any of my posts they would e-mail me and recommend I change my attitude. I am aware my attitude has not been at it's best lately but I will explain this right now and be very blunt about why I may have been such a jerk lately because I for one do not care or have never cared for how I am thought of or ever will be thought of. I have been through more than your average person in my short period of time (30years) on earth.

My wife had a tubelature pregnancy, for those that do not t=have the ability to understand that it means she was carrying a fetus in the fallopian tube, the tube that carries the egg to the uterus, anyway she had to have surgery and have the tube and our next child removed! Now I do not know if ya have the ability to comprehend the feelings that I have about this entire ordeal but I do have a fu#@ed up way of expressing my feelings (thanks dad) and do not always get things out through meditation as I normally do.99% of the time I am a very forgiving person and usually ignore the childish post because I do not care to get into any debate with a bunch of children but I have come to a point where I would just love to snap! Working all the hours I am now does not help matters any but we want to get or savings back up into 5 digits and it will take a bit of OT to do it.

I do not ask or expect anyone to feel sorry for me since I discovered everything happens for a reason that I may not understand at that very point in time. I do not expect many to understand that philosophy either since it is beyond the normal mind set.

You are not the one to say if I get banned or not it is up to others that you do not control. If they ever did choose to ban me so be it, but I doubt that would ever happen since I am a very kind and loving person.

I don't take that personally, since I do smoke grass from time to time, but that is not the issue I think!!!
