Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Sysopt slowed down behind earthweb?
Since Sysopt moved behind .earthweb, it seems that the whole board has slowed down dramatically.
I'm on a T-1 here and the screens used to move very quickly. The forums used to populate my screen in under a second.
Now I can walk across the building to the coke machine and back and ten minutes later the messages may or may not have populated to my browser.
Doesn't matter if I use Netscape or IE, any version - and I'm on a PIII 550, so speed and RAM shouldn't be an issue and haven't changed at my end.
Is there something being done to address this issue? When I dial-up on a 33.6 modem at home, I can actually complete my yard work in some cases while I wait for a screen of messages to come up whereas before it only used to take 4 or 5 minutes before earthweb.
Perhaps my impression of the problem being earthweb is incorrect, perhaps some equipment is down and we are awaiting repairs.... or perhaps some additional T-3's have been ordered and are awaiting install - but we'd like to know.......
I cherish sysopt as a tool of mine for answers I can't find anywhere else, but that tool has slowed to a crawl......

Obviously this is best left to the admins here to answer, but on my cable modem, I am having no issues with speed from the site, and have not for quite some time.
You wouldn't happen to be loading like a ton of previous days posts would you?

I have no poblems from my T-1 at work or even my modem at home. I get a 49.9k connection there. Could it be your cache or temp. internet files?

I to am having problems on my T-1 connection, just with SysOpt, and every time I post a reply, I have to re-enter my name and password.
Any advice SysOpt!

Not having too much time lately to surf around, I haven't noticed any change in performance of this site on any of our computers. Just got Verdee's up and Earthweb
and Sysopt's is A OK. I usual connect at about 50,000 bps,WOW..52,000 tonight( must be the new phone lines)and haven't had any problems....

I have had some of the same problems ect. I get a solid 48 kbps with a 56 k dialup. I just figured it was my server.I called them and they said that they were serviceing the system ect.
for I've had e-mails to wait for almost 15/20 minutes to show up in my send folder after I have already sent them out to people. and some are getting double/triple copies of them and some are getting nothing from me.
and I clear my cookies, internet temp files , history from ie explorer and from inside windows. and it hasen't helped me any.
and it dose the same with both 98se and wik 2k
I gotta agree with ya Axel, I'm on T1 too - its slow all the time!

Same here Axel. Some days it's ok, but on the whole it seems to be getting slower....earlier today, I just gave up on it. Seems a little better right now, but not what I'm used to with cable. Other sites I frequent are ok.

I have noticed it has been slower lately as well. From home on my cable modem, and at work as well. All other sites seem to be fast. It happens in windows and in Linux. Sometimes (like right now) it is very fast, but sometimes it is so slow that my browser times out. I have just noticed this in the last couple of weeks.

Just as fast as ever here.
It has got faster for me - look:

An odd time it is sub 200ms and this is 56k. Scott should host a UT match on sysopt.com. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

I had a similar problem with one of the UBB's I was working on. As it turns out the UBB is a CPU hog. We moved the board to its own server (which is slower then the webserver by far) then updated the UBB to 3.45 and reindexed the threads. Now the only time there is a problem is when an Admin does his/her thing.
I was having problems similar to the ones we where having and I just figured some one was doing their admin thing.
At any rate its better now for me anyway http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

exactly, the whole freaken site slowed down. Sometimes it takes a while before the server of the site even responds. I say that sysopt becomes independent, but of course, it might lose some things. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Backhoe, ping is an extremely simple connection - you can ping your brains out at extremely high speed, then try to pull over a graphic and read War & Peace before you finally get to see the image.......
Today the speed seems to have improved quite a bit - only took about 3 seconds for this forum to post over a T-1, so something appears to have improved. Just wish the admins would let us in on the secret if there is one..... Hope today's performace stays the constant.....
