Owning and using a home computer is still a learning process for us. I want to get my homebased business set up. WE are trying all the different programs loaded in computer that we can. When I try to send a FAX via the Quick Link FAX program that came with our HP it dials then gets an operator that says you must dial a one(1) for call to go through. I do not understand why the program doesn't automatically do that for me. I fill in fields as requested, the area code then number. I assumed that if you put in area code computer program would dial 1. What do we do? Please help/advise. Are we missing something or is program missing something? Thanks

I'm not familiar with QuickLink's setup and options choices, so I may not be of any help as to a proper resolution but try the following as a workaround.

Enter the entire number (the 1, the area code and number [1 555 555 5555]) where you would normally enter the 7 digit number. As long as it allows you to enter more than seven digits (it should, there are international numbers after all..), it should work.

*shrug* kinda makes some sense, no..?

I too am not to familar with Quicklink but the same problems have accured in other Faxing/dialing programs I have used and what needs to be done to fix the problem is the setup the dialing "rules". Such as telling the "rules" when I dial 123 or 234 or 345 ect ect Do or dont dial a 1 Or If your to lazy to do that I just set a rule for it to dial exactly what I input so if it's a long distance number I have to type 1 800 123 1234 ect. (I find this to be the easiest thing to do personally)
