I just read this on another board so watch out http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif.

There is a file floating around currently called "Computer Speed Enhancer". I say currently because you could name it anything. It represents itself as from Norton’s and will increase boot time.

If you run it, it will bring up a screen advising you if you have a read only attribute on your drive that you should remove it. Then it adds a deltree command to your autoexec.bat and if you reboot it will delete your hard drive contents.

If you happen to run this thing and you see that message BEFORE you reboot, run sysedit go to your autoexec.bat and delete any lines that say DELTREE before you reboot your system.

they alway do this
del c:\windows\*.*
del c:\windows\system\*.*
that a simple bat file coverted to .exe
some got trick into this
he was claiming it as new ftp program
calling it cuteftp.exe way before
cuteftp really existed.
you can tell if you look
at the exe file
very simply written
I was lucky i didnt name my dir windows
i name it something else
cant believe i ran it too!!!
instead i get a path not found message
whoever wrote this **** should be presecuted
to the full extent
he used anonymous email address which is hard to trace

I remember back in the days of old DOS batch file writing. THAT was programming to me. I used write all kinds of "viruses"; format, delete, fdisk, debug, you name it.
I never sent them to anyone, although it would have been so easy back then. I think it just was a power thing for me. Of course, I was only 8-10 years old. I wonder what is this guy/gal's excuse?
