Is There anyway to stop this behavior?
I've tried loading smartdrive, but it doesn't seem to help (and yes, himem.sys is present and loaded.)
Since there is nothing in this system i can't get any keyrates but i think that they are to low.
Using buffer to memory only is not an option. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum7/HTML/001068.html
BTW: is there any way to make the dos client make a log?

The Ditributed.net clients are actually read/write to the disk quite a lot. You don't notice it as much with a client running off the hard disk, but with a floppy disk based client it becomes quite evident. Because of the slow speed of floppy disks compared to hard disks, running off of a floppy can impact the performance some as well.

Just a quick update:
The Nameless Bovine Beast has now cracked for 12 hours. The result of this was 43 blocks. that equals a keyrate of about 250kkeays - and according to the anandtech cpu index page it should be maximum 297kk.
I think that is satisfactory for that system...
Just copied the Log settings from the main systems inifile, to the headless vegie in the living room http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
i'll take a picture using a camcorder and my Marvel G400 later today - you just got to see it!

Why don't you put in an old 420MB HDD or something with a little better data transfer rate?
