Is there any way to optimize RC5, besides Stopping all the programs? (and disabling others)

When the screen saver goes into "blank" mode, is that similar to disabling the GFXCard?

If you are going away for several days, and nobody needs to use it - is there _any_ way to make it go just a little bit faster?

The Dos Client... how much dos does it need? just the executable on a bootdisk? or do you need a full install of dos? how fast is it compared to the win9x client?

I Think that is all the questions i have for now...

If you've stopped processor draining programs, and disabled screensavers, there isn't much more you could do.

You could install Linux, or use a DOS client from a boot floppy, but by doing this I have got less than 0.1% increases. Windows Me is almost as fast as Win2k. I wouldn't upgrade to Win2k just for 10kkeys/sec more, which is the difference between Windows Me and Win2k on my main system anyway.

If yer going away, install Win2k. I've found that Win9x seems to like to slowly crash after around 5 - 6 days of uptime if left alone.

This little proggy will stop the "slow down" process of Win 95/98, it's called Freemem and you can d/l the free version, it worls great! My 98 box has been going without a reboot for over 20 days. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.3bsoftware.com

Set your harddrive to *Never* power down/sleep.

Well - now i run with an avarage of 150 mb. Free memory - configured RC5 to buffer to memory instead, and i've never used the HD Power down feature...

UHUHUHUHUH!! - BTW: - I've expanded my herd a bit...

Anuthing else, like disabling the graphics adapter?

Theres nothing stopping you from removing the graphics card, but how it'd help, I don't know.

Maybe 1kkey/sec?
