What is the minimum required for running RC5?
How about this:
CPU (of course)
MOBO
Memory
Floppy
Is it able to just boot up on a floppy, and then run the dos version, or does dos have to be installed?
My guess is that the dos version is a lot slower that the other clients - right?

There is a Linux/Floppy version develpoed by ccalvert over at Team AnandTech. It's available for anyone, especially our friends here at SysOpt.

Will the system i talked about be as efficient as, say... win98?
I'm really interessted in knowing how little is required, since i want to make an RC5 monster... submerged, supercooled.
Can anybody tell me what needs to be on that disc?

Well, I'm not sure about your particular system but on mine it was about 10kk per second faster in DOS than in Windows.
To make a DOS disk, you would just make a system disk, (ie. format a: /s) and then unzip the DOS client to the disk. Move a full in-buffer file into the client directory on the disk, then pop the disk in and reboot.
Of course, to upload you would have to move the out-buffer file back to another machine running the client and upload, as DOS doesn't have TCP/IP support.

Yup, the DOS client is able to be run off of a simple MS-DOS boot disk. But the keyrate goes up a small amount, as a DOS boot disk doesn't load all of the **** the useless **** that Windows does http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

It hias been done, i now have yet another cow munching!
Parts:
mobo: Rhino 12
CPU: AMD K5-90, with attached heatsink/fan
Memory: 2x4 mbyte 72pin
Floppy
Floppy cable
200 Watt PSU
Just put smartdrv on the floppy - hope to improve performance a bit, it frequently accesses the disc
