It was stolen, and whatever was done to it was pretty permanent. It stunk till the day it was declared illegal to drive because it was spewing 3 times the legal amount of pollutants (perk of living in California http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif ). Anyway, if nothing else, you'll get used to it. I did. Just have your story ready when you bring new guests into the car http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif. dkozloski 05-16-2000, 04:34 PM After a dead man had been in the trunk of a Cadillac for most of the summer here in Fairbanks, Alaska, they couldn't sell even the engine and driveline parts let alone the whole car. They tried repainting and reupholstering the inside and the stink was still so strong it would knock your hat off. Biff 05-16-2000, 05:10 PM Could be mould growing in evaperator case, first there should be a drain hole, this could plug up. It should be at bottom of heater/ac case, under the hood side, there may be a small hose attatched, check for blockage! also leaves get in the air intake check that. You can also spray lysol around the air intake this should kill any mould growing. How about the interior, carpet perhaps, get a shampoo barry glisson 05-16-2000, 07:47 PM sprinkle coffee grounds around the interior place some in the a/c intake. this is how truckers take the seafood smell out of their trailers. barry brandon184 05-16-2000, 08:01 PM EGH.. I feel sorry for you, if you can't find whatever is causing it.. hehe. shadow 05-16-2000, 10:06 PM What kinda girls you been dating....hmmm? smokin1 05-16-2000, 10:50 PM Find a restoration contractor in your area that does insurance work...get an ozone generator set up in the car for a day or so...done... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif ....unless of course there IS something continuing to rot..lol http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif bhess 05-17-2000, 12:24 AM It really stinks! How long will it rot? I think a lizard crawled up the a/c duct and died. bhess 05-17-2000, 03:03 AM I'm pretty sure it is in my duct. It's only bad when I closeup and run the ac. One time in another car I found a petrified lizard in the duct. If one got in, it probably went in the vent for cover and baked in the sun. Biff 05-19-2000, 08:49 PM The evaperator "runs wet" in other words the cold evaperator forms condensation which in turn removes dust, pollen, odour and humidity, this sometimes forms a mould that can smell real bad, and needs to be cleaned with a bacteria killing agent. I have seen rotten leaves do the same, never found dead animals, but that is a possibility! bhess 05-20-2000, 01:14 AM thanks biff I'll check it out this weekend. If I can find it that is. chuckiechan 05-22-2000, 10:34 PM My trick is as follows: When I leave the last stoplight from home, I shut the air conditioner off and let the fan run. This dries off the condensor and helps get the water out, hence the mold won't grow... Hope this helps... SysOpt.com
