Cwizard,

Finally got around to finding a home for my orphaned Cel1 366/550. Bought myself a refurbished bh6 rev1 mobo. Slapped my Cel2 600/901 on it, booted right up after windoze recognized my peripherals. So far so good. When I flashed the mobo to the latest bios (SS), it recognized the cpu plus went all the way up to 12x multiplier. whooooaa...

I figured, I know BX mobo are good so why jump the boat and pay more. Pretty cost effective to me, me thinks. Unfortunately, I found out that the cpu is only stable if it is 1.75v, anything less and random lockups. Eventually, I
will swap the 600/901 to my bx6r2 and put 366/550 on my bh6r1. Or maybe not.

Sooo, the question Mr. Cwizard, did you found a home for that orphaned cpu and crack more blocks???

Hey Big e:

WTG on getting that brain a new home.

I got the BP6 going with 2 533s but it won't do more than 550 reliably. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

Also, decided to update my HP LH2 Netserver to dual 300s while the antique 300 brains were still available. Really honks me off though that HP build a solid machine and intentionally crippled it with the bios. The voltage regs are plug ins, the dual CPU board has dip switches for up to 450. Yet, the bios looks for the ID of a 266 or 300. If it doesn't find it, it won't boot.

The fact that I got 2 300 CPUs and the spare voltage reg for a 1/10 of what HP originally wanted for the update is no consolation. Oh well.

Still have to update the NetWare to a dual version. I hope to get that done soon.

Prices are going down again next month on CPUs so, you never can tell what will happen next.
