lol It was because this was the version for the year 2000...I don't know whether to laugh or cry http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif. Take it back as I am sure if you explain the situation they will exchange it or give you a refund.

They will do that as long as you didn't open it.... Next time make sure you read the side of the box and that one it's printed right on the front as to which OS it supports http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

You don't the read System Requirements on the side of the box, before you install it?
Heck, I do that before I even THINK about buying software, or hardware for that matter. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Don't feel like the long ranger Skywalker. I did the EXACT same thing.
I had just won a copy of Win2k, installed it on my system, and went out and bought Norton Util 2000. ::sigh::
I wound up selling my copy, bought a DVD encore kit and some DVDs. Norton Util 2000 works just dandy on Win98SE. Happy ending http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

i had the same problem, although i had norton utilz 2000 before win2k, there wan't anything on the side of the win2k box that said "will not work with norton utilz", so i thought it would be ok http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Seal the box up and take it back. Use something like a hot knife or iron to melt the plastic back together.
Let me guess you ripped the plastic off, right?
This is the reason you just wasted $35.

the good news is that you may exchange it for something else but no refund so
check with the policy or work something out with whereever you buy it from.

http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif j/k Obviously no system can handle every product...thats why they put the requirements on the box.
