Intel has announced the price cuts... In 10 or so days, it will trickle down to the vendors. Ack!!!!! Looks like 30-40% off the Cel600.

Looks like I'm going to have to give Highlander more of a challenge as he is stomping me everyday.

Does anyone know if the Celeron 600 will run dual on a BP6?

Thanks,

Only one Celeron II will work on the BP6, and not by itself. You will need to purchase the powerleap Neo adapter.

Dual isn't possible, even if you mod 2 Neo adapters for it; a dul P3 is possible, but not over 600MHz due to the voltage regulator in the BP6.

Thanks Brendan. I figured that Intel would plug that loop hole with the later Celeron release. So what's the fastest Celeron that will work in dual mode? I know the 466 does, which other speeds still do if any?

Thanks again,

The standard 500 celly's will also work in Dually. (basically all of the .25 micron cellys)

The normal 533 will work dual in it too. That is the .25 micron one, just as Mntsnow said. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Yep the "old" 533's will still work if you can find any of them http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif You will probably have an easier time finding the 500's though

But Abit announced the VP-6 a few days ago.

Gget one of them and 2 P3 1GHz processors and get cracking. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gifMaybe you could squeeze over 6Mkeys/sec out it it with a bit of o/cing. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Thanks Mntsnow and Brenden. I really appreciate the info.

There is a source currently for the 533s. Glad to hear they will work.

Thanks again for the info.

Guess I'll have to go with slocket P3s for the Asus 2B-Ds I'm running as I don't want a big investment in the older Celerons.

Keep on crunching....

Well guys, the BP6 is finally humming away with 2 533s veggies in it.

Thanks for the headsup on suitable chips.
