Is there a way to change the default directory when you install software from C:/program files/xxxxxxx, to a different directory?
I strictly want windows98 on my C drive, and everything else in other partitions. Yes, I'm lazy, I hate browsing directories every time I install something.
Maybe this can be done by editing the registry?
I think that it's hard coded into the software installer.
Like yourself, I almost never install software to my c drive, I have to manually change it in the installer every time. I hope that someone has an answer to this as it would be great to be able to not have to remember to stop and change the drive designation.

Both of these keys below are set to "Program Files". Maybe try changing these to whatever you'd like and see what happens...
*BACKUP REGISTRY*
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\ProgramFilesDir
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\ProgramFiles\Path
