Recently I have come across Slot 1, Slot 2, Slot A, Socket 7, Socket 370, FC PGA, PPGA.

I know Slot A (Athlon) and Slot 1, but is Socket 370 the same as PPGA and FC PGA and what the hell is Slot 2?

Nice to know that no-one is following the KISS principle.

Slot 2 is used for those big *** Intel PIII Xeons. Have you seen those, they are hella big. They are used for servers, and mainly used in businesses. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks, that's a start. Yeah, know of xeons but never played with one. We had a couple of Netfinity Servers go through but never looked inside one.

PPGA is the same as socket 370, FCPGA is the same pin configuration as socket 370 but not always electrically compatable. Socket 7 is the old Pentium and AMD K5 & K6 series pin configuration
