I think that WTF should be allowed back in. Is the purpose of punishment not to learn from ones mistakes? What good can banning someone permanently do, it serves no purpose because then there is no point in learning something from there punishment. He is truely a nice guy at heart and I think he'd really want to come back.

Yea I think he should be allowed to come back IF(if being the key word here)will be less................umm turbulent?
I think it would be great if he came back and learned from his mistakes and stopped playing silly games.......but if he started playing them again.....I say ban his *** for good.
JAT(just a thought)
yah i agree, though Sysopt might not, and just delete or close this thread, i agree and i want him back in, how would u feel if you got banned while they talked about PIII 500 Overclocking (his CPU) and/or people needed help on PIII 500 OCing (he got his at 620) and he wasn't here, i'm not saying he's the only one, but look, every MEMBER HELPS. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

There can be other reasons for punishment.
1) Being banned for a long period of time teaches him the severity of the "crime"
2) It potentially saves us from having to put up with garbage
3) If you crucify one person, it's easier to cower everyone else into obedience.
I do believe in forgiveness, but never immediately.

I liked wtf.
I have been a member of a few different forums like this one, I won't mention any other forums by name but the flaming, and other disrespectful behavior in these other forums runs rampant, the moderators of this forum do a very good job of keeping this forum a place where anyone can come and ask any question relating to computers and get answers without fear of being belittled, because of this some of the best tech minds enjoy this forum. I think the mods have done a great job in the year that I have belonged to SYS-OPT, I respect their judgement (it is always more than leanient), so let them run this board as they see fit.

Can I ask what WTF did??
Surely banning him/her is impossible, couldm't he/she just come back under a different posting name like WTF(2) or something http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
As Craig David would say "Can you Fill me in??"

I agree LJ. Can we just let Management make the decisions on member status here? I'm sure Scott will put up a poll for us to vote on if wants our input.
Also note how many of the "ceedee apologizes last-time-i-mean-it" threads have been locked. I think that means Scott wants us to talk about computers; if you have a strong opinion on this whole mess, email him directly.

Thing is, he wasn't just banned for a lond period - it was permanent and that's what I think is stupid.
Let 'em in!

Any future threads regarding wtf or ceedee will be deleted. Have a problem, email me or socalgal. As I mentioned previously, bans are not permanent. Users are given a 2nd chance. Blow it on #2, ban becomes permanent.
Scott
i say you let him back in as he intermittently cusses at me at school since he can't share his info with fellow sysopt users!!!! oh well, the cussing will go on, unless someone lets him back in! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

oh yeah, i asked him why he didnt make a new handle: its becasue scott threatened him (said he'll notify aol if he did) and becasue he likes the handle "wtf" because it matches his description: questionative http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I say let him in....he will be cool I think,we have taslked through email quite a bit................
But as far as scott or anybody "notifying AOL" is concerned.....AOL will not cooperate at all,in fact when anands was maliciously hacked into from an"AOLer" AOL absolutly refused to give them any info or records as to who was using the ip at the time.....in fact they said the only way they could get the info is if they had a court order...................good luck getting AOL to cooperate without court intervention.

Sysopt is by far the most civil and well mannered BBS I've been on. I'm a long time member on anandtech and geez it seems like close to half the people over there act like 10 year olds. I'd like to say socalgal has done a superb job as the moderator here because over at anandtech the moderators have made fun of others, made sarcastic remarks and banned people for posting in the wrong forum(most notably their once beloved Hot Deals forum). I'm sure sysopt will do what is appropriate for this message board. thx again http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
