I just got it set up. I hope I set everything up right so I'm on the Sysopt team. Just one question, does internet connection speed affect the ammount you can do in a day? I have an Athlon 700 and 256 megs ram, so hardware isn't a question. It's the connection speed.
Any thoughts???

No your internet connection has noyhing to do with it..it depends on your cpu mhz and make. You can download some work units and crack them offline and then upload the finished work http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Your Athlon should be really good for RC5 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Hopefully when the new "vulture" core comes out in the new client, your Athlon will be even better!

welcome..I await the new client also for my athlon..socalgal...kinda miss the fun we had http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
So you're saying that I can download enough to do for, say, a weekend, and not be connected? If so, how do I go about downloading the units, the software seems to go about it all by itself. Usually, when I'm at home, I'm dialed in, weather I'm using the net, or not.

me too, codybear... you left me in the dust a long time ago http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif and I'm happy for your rise in the stats.
BUT! I do have permission from my MIS guys to put RC5 on my comp at work.. not a speed freak comp, but another addition to the herd. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
jbob, sorry to not reply to your question, not being familiar with the Athlon, I have learned to leave the answering to the Real experts in this forum http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I know how to do it, but I need to know what client your using. Is it GUI, or what? I have two versions on my computer right now, and I noticed the GUI client is much easier, and it is a quite a bit faster. I went up from 350 blocks/day-720 blocks/day. Plus, I never could connect to Virus's proxy with the..uhhh.... MIND BLOCK (grrrrrrrr)
Whatever, its not the GUI client.......
if its the GUI client, then you just open up the client window, go
File--->Enter Configuration--->Buffers Tab--->Then change the RC5 Buffers to about 300 or so. I don't know how many you would use on the weekend, so its better safe than sorry.
If its the "other" client:
Open client--->Right click anywherein the window--->configuration--->Some where in there should be a buffers area.
Also, are you connected to Virus's Proxy?
Go into the configuration, and somewhree there is a network tab, and uncheck the "automatically connect to D-Net servers"
in the box, put 24.72.9.177 as the address, and 8080 as the port. That way you can see your progress updated every 30 minutes or so.
The we address is
24.72.9.177/byemail.php
If you got any other questions, just post em here, and I'll try to answer them!
BTW: I just started RC5 on March 1st. I think I've accumilated a lot of Knowlege in that amount of time!

Yes MTP, you have learned much my apprentice. But you are not a RC5 Knight yet. YOu must first face the dark side of RC5.....Addiction. It's power is reat, and has seduced many a young crackers. You must continue your training if you wish to defeat the addiction. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

YOU THINK IM NOT ADDICTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've asked probable more than 100 people if they would lend their computer top me so I could crack more! Right now, I am putting together a P II 233 @ 300 system, which its sle purpose is to crack!
I've also got it running on two comps , networked together. I've got the "other" client. I also have the 24.72.9.177, and port 8080 set up. With Win2k and the modem on my main machine, I've set up ICS with my second machine. If I can ping to the internet with my second machine through ICS, and just copy the folder to my second machine, it should work the same, right? I hope so, I've been running that way all day.

jbob,
If I'm not mistaken, if you could see the other folder where the first client is running from your other machine. Just run/double click on that client and both of you machine should crack and utilize the same folder.
Then both result will be on that client machine, just fetch/flush from that machine. Works fine with me.

Yeah, the method that Engracio mentioned works quite well. I've used it before.
