My mom sells a medical book, and wants to accept credit cards on her website. Where would I go to do this? are there any other steps she should take in order to make her online selling easier or more effective? Right now she does everything by check or M.O...she has nothing but a website. (a free homepage)

I checked out www.freemerchant.com, (http://www.freemerchant.com,) but I didnt really understand what it was talking about.

Setting up a secure web site to accept credit card payments is a non trivial task. Your mom would be better off to link to and arrange for a third party to accept payment and ship the product. I believe that there are several available. http://www.releasenow.com/
