I would be willing to say that any kind of explosion, smoke, or flames should not be considered normal in any system.
Unless of corse your lighting your Bar-B-Que.

I've figured out how to remove the core from a 486 for examining it. First, stick it on a hotplate till the pins glow red. Then drop it in cold water. Repeat a few times. The the chip should be cracked enough to cleanly open and cut the traces to the core, to remove it. The removed core makes a great case badge http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

as in real life, smokeing will shorten your life." I'll be gone soon" and I pretty sure it is the same for systems.

what was you or the system doing when it decided to take up smokeing???

I know if mine do at the prices I have to pay. they will have to buy there own.
