I'm going to buy a new printer very soon.
My HP Deskjet 600 Inkjet Printer is causing too many printing errors or the print is very bad. I want to buy a Epson Stylus Color 660. Is there a better printer than the one I mentioned or is the 660 a alright printer?

I swear by HP printers in general. If you need color, I suggest 970Cse or something along those lines. Print quality is amazing and even on plain paper is fairly decent and sharp. If you don't need color I suggest you get the cheapest laser you can find. Cheap laser quality looks so much more solid and is so much less picky of paper type than B&W inkjet. And runs out less often.
A word on epson. We've had 2 (or 3) and the inks tend to dry up fast (or one of the 3 colors would anyway). Also it is VERY picky about paper quality. If you put in the wrong one, ours bled and blurred the colors, so even text was annoyingly fuzzy.

your parallel port maybe dead
I suggest you do a diagnostic on it
HP are by far the BEST
and lexmark is only second to that due to
their slowness at printing stuff but really cheap.
no, HP is not the best, my dad subscribes to this photo thing (Popular Photography) and they looked at printers (including Epson and HP). The best one was the Epson, as it had the best kind of color photo printing and HP was like 3rd place. The 2nd place one was a Cannon. Well, just for your info. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif but, i prefer HP though for some reason, probably because i own one http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I've owned a lot of printers.
The best ones I had for speed, cost effeciency, quality were HP.
Second place was Canon.
I didn't like epson printers...

Wtp, make sure to evaulate that article carefully. I remember looking at those magazine printouts, too. That's why we got Epson originally, b/c it looked good in the magazine and b/c the editors said it had best color, sharpness, whatever.
Perhaps it is true that w/ the BEST paper that is manufactured directly by Epson, and costs $2 per page, it can have the best quality. But there are other factors to consider, most notably ink cartridge life. And compatibility. A lot of the neat stuff (T shirt iron ons, Photo glossy paper, etc) only support HP. You have to search high and low for Epson stuff.
Save yourself the headache. Buy HP.

I think your hp600 toolbox panel
has it that will test your parellel port
from 10 percent, 20, 30% up to 100
and your parellel chipset if faulty it will
say test failed which mean you have to either
get a parellel port adapter for 10 buck at best buy or get a new motherboard.
I too thought it was the printer
or you could try plugging the printer on a different computer if same result then you know it the printer.
if there no way to diagnose your parallel port because I dunno if your
hp600 has it or not
install the HP880 software it about 4meg
and it has a toolbox that has it even thought it said the printer doesnt exist
just ignore it and continue installing it on
lpt1
In BIOS setup
your parellel port should be set to normal
that mean no ECP, ECP/EPP/ or EPP
because printer are not designed to work in that mode.

wtp, that because HP is the best even thought
magazine dont recommend it they dont know anything about HP do they. hehe
it expensive right? so how can you go wrong?!
performance is very good
and so is the technology
epson is the worst
bad bad bad unreliable
I didnt use it for 1 week
and it never print anything because the printhead dried up.
bought it a second time for 199.99
did the same thing.
frist time was 299.99
i got so fed up I didnt even bother
doing RMA. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif
I got something real cheap for 100buck with 50 buck rebate is ****, lexmark z11
took 10 min to print one full page picture
and about 5 min to print web pages.
horrible
with hp930cs only 1 min.
Epson is a complete waste of my money thought
cartridge are so inefficient
I feel I made the biggest mistake buying them
how they got me?
the high resolution 1440 vs HP 600
that why,
but never again fall for that trick, this one is a hard one to learn from.
what I should do before I threw it away?
stomp it on with my barefoot for at least
100 times then give away to some body and say a car ran over it but it so tough it still working perfectly. LOLOLOLOLOL
NONONO, on second thought to show somebody how much i dispies it i should take a hammer and whack until it goes pieces and dispose of it properly. ah complete satisfaction.
my sister hate it and im telling alot of other folk dont buy this printer because of
my bad experience with it.
trust me I know more about epson then I do about HP, or cannon, etc
just ask me anything and I will tell you
because I fully read the manual.
