To do that, goto start-->run-->then type sysedit
You will see the system files. If you don't want to delte those lines for some reason, you can also type REM in front of the command for example:
REM mscdex /d http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/redface.gifakcdrom /l:e
would disable that call in an autoexec.bat for the cdrom drive.

You know what? It seems kind of strange that DOS would ask you for CDROM support when that's built into win98. You don't need an AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS at all (except maybe as a place-holder).
It sounds like the Startup Disk's autoexec got copied onto your hard drive somehow. Having a 16-bit progs in your autoexec can hurt your win98 performance.
Right click on My Computer->Properties->whatever the last tab is (should be the 4th I think) There should be a box near the bottom that tells you whether or not win98 thinks unnecessary 16-bit files are getting loaded.

Hi all First off thanks to all those who helped get me set up with a duel boot WIN 98 NT 4.0. Both systems running great apart from one small thing when booting in to WIN 98 DOS asks if I want CD Rom support, and then tells me that. Path not found for
command
extract.exe
readme.txt
These three files are on the C drive any ideas.
Thanks
Ash

You will need to edit the autoexec or config files to correct the "path" statements. It's telling you that they are not where they are supposed to according to the file http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

ps. I'm unable to be more specific as everyone's setup is usually just a touch different.
